About Nate Studer
Nate has over 25 years experience in the turf management industry. His beginning started at Minnetonka Country Club in 1994 at age 16 working on the grounds department. Throughout high school, Nate continued to work long summer hours learning the technical side of turfgrass management and he eventually became a "Spray Technician" by his senior year of high school.
In the fall of 1997 Nate went on to study Turfgrass Management at the University of Minnesota and received two degrees during his study between the fall of 1996 and the spring of 2000. He earned an:
- Associate of applied Science degree in Landscape Design and Implementation
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Horticulture with an emphasis in Turfgrass Management
In 1998 Nate went on to join Burl Oaks Golf Club in Minnetrista, MN to become an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. During his tenure, Nate assisted in a full scale 9 hole renovation from tee to green including the installation of over 1000 irrigation heads. Nate also had the unique opportunity to build 7 new golf greens, over 35 bunkers, 40 Tee boxes, and 7 new fairways all from seed. After the renovation was complete, Nate moved on to a bigger challenge. Upon graduation in 2000 he accepted an offer to become a golf course superintendent. He oversaw the construction process of building a brand new 450 acre, 36 hole golf course from seed near Pine City, MN.
In 2002, after the completion of the 18 hole golf course in Pine City, Nate moved back towards home and became the assistant superintendent of Minnesota Valley Country Club in Bloomington, MN. After several previous years of building golf courses, Nate took on a more management role at Minnesota Valley.
During his tenure at Burl Oaks in the late 90's and while working at Minnesota Valley, Nate began doing lawn care on the side for members, friends, and employees outside of work. As the demand increased from more people by word of mouth, he had to start purchasing equipment and hiring help to make up for the demand. It was soon after that Nate formed The Greener Blade LLC in 2003.
